I remember, when my daughter was that age, she did the same thing. It was hard to get her to participate in the class activities, and she always wanted to do her own thing. As long as she was not disruptive, her teachers allowed her to explore on her own. Eventually, she became more comfortable in her surroundings and made some friends. It sounds like your son may be the same way. Some children just need a little bit more time to warm up to others. Maybe his teachers can encourage him to participate by giving him a special job or being the teacher’s helper for the day. Would it also be possible to arrange playdates with some of the children in his class? This would give him a chance to play with his classmates in a place he is comfortable with. I hope some of these suggestions help. Thanks for sharing and God bless!
