Hi everyone! So my 3yr old daughter developed an itchy raised rash on her arm around the crease of the elbow about 3 weeks ago. It has since spread to the backs of her thighs, left ankle, and beginning on her torso. The doctor saw her last week before it started to spread and summed it up to possibly detergent or soap causing it, however, we have not changed anything since she was very young. She also has not had any new foods that would be causing this. Has anyone ever seen this before? Thank you in advance!

Since the last time I posted she was seen by her pediatrician who decided her rash was not a contact rash nor eczema and to see a pediatric allergist. The pediatric allergist saw her and did environmental skin allergy testing that only showed a dust allergy. He started her on a new cream and Zyrtec along with hydrocortisone. Her rash has improved as it is not as red, however, she is still covered in small bumps. She is seeing another allergy group in another week for food allergy testing.

I was thinking possibly eczema as well. I have a call into her doctor to try and get an appointment for tomorrow or Monday. I have aquaphor so I will try that tonight .

I am not a doctor, but the picture and what you describe sound like eczema. Try using over the counter hydrocortisone (1%) and Aquaphor. Just dab the cream on the rash and then apply the aquaphor over the whole area, several times a day. You can get store brand equivalent of Aquaphor for much less money than the brand name. It is a lot like vaseline but not petroleum based. This treatment is will not hurt her even if she does not have eczema. Good Luck!

It is very frustrating trying to figure out what the cause is, but hopefully we will soon!

I hope so too. I do know that just because you have not changed out soaps for bath, laundry and so forth or other things since she was born, it does not mean that those things can not be causing an allergy now. Just saying. My daughter was allergic to your everyday bubbles that kids blow. Her bottom got really red and diaper rash like rash from sitting in a puddle of it. Her oldest had a sensitivity to the bubbles as well for a while.

I have seen something similar but not exactly like it on my son when he was younger. But that has been 18 years ago.....

I am going to call her doctor in the morning, however, I was curious to see if any other moms had seen this before. I am not on here to diagnose her, i'm simply on here to see if any other moms have come across something similar.

Maybe you should take her back to the doctor because a picture of a rash is not going to be something anyone here is going to e able to tell you what it is.
I looked and you need to take her back to her doctor. We are not medical experts here.
