How can I get my 3 year old to sit still and listen for any period of time?

I cannot even get him to sit still while eating. It's very frustrating. He won't sit still unless we are in the car going down the road.

I know exactly what you mean my 3 yr old does the same thing and i don't know how to get her to sit. She really can't even sit long enough to watch a movie.. let me know what u come up with please

A couple suggestions:

Running for 5 min. before eating

Clenching every muscle in his body & then releasing 3X's

Putting on classical music

Saying matter-of-factly"We eat at the table, not play. Please eat sitting still. If you cannot sit still, you may leave the table until you calm down."
