how do i keep my 2 yr old from climbing out of carseat while driving?

You could do is put a bag of toys in your car for him to stay in his car seat. I have two year old daughter does samething also too.

One of my husband's colleagues uses zip ties to keep his son in the car seat. Not exactly sure what the safety repercussions are for that, but if you were as desperate as they were...

My son has done this 2 times in his 3.5 years of life. He will still try to get out of the chest buckle while we're driving and I stop the car til he buckles it back up. And he gets mad b/c I stop the car and I just tell him then buckle up and we'll start going again. I did get out of the car the last time and buckled him back up myself and told him if he ever did it again while we were driving we were going back home and hasn't done it since

i bribe my 2yo with tic tacs. Yes i know bribery is wrong but i'd rather give her 2 tic tacs... one to sit still long enough to get buckled, and one when we get to our destination for staying in her seat. I have tightened her straps enough to leave marks (like you get from a panty line) and she still managed to get her arms loose. I've tried 4 different carseats. This last one cost me $275. I refuse to buy another. I too thought she was jealous of her big sister's seat so we got her one just like it. (my 7yo was in a 5pt till about 6 mos ago). That did not help.

The tic tacs do however.

i had the same problem with my daughter when she was 9 months on people will say its not fitted properly etc but i find people think they are better than you no offense to any body ... i couldnt find a car seat that she wouldnt get out of in the end i just got a bit of velcro to tie around the middle of the two arm straps and i only needed to use it 4 weeks and when she realised she never did it again but when i did take it off i pit some small toys around the straps (ones that wrap around or u can make them) so she didnt realise... she would spend so much time trying to get them off that she just gave up.

i hope this helps it mite not be suitable for urself or other parents but i also came to the end of my teather and this was the 1 thing i found that helped x good luck x

You should only be able to fit 2 fingers under the straps if they are tight enough. Maybe check that. I know it looks like it's too tight, but that's the only way they can't escape. Wouldn't you rather have your baby safe than for their straps to be a little snug?

honestly the only thing i can think of it the straps aren't tight enough... they should be snug so theres no way to get out... i know on my daughters seat the thing to tighten/loosen them there is no way a child could reach it and even if they could they wouldnt' have the strength to do it

if the straps are done correctly it's impossible for him to wiggle out... he's too young for a booster PERIOD i'ts unsafe... i'd take the seat to the police station and have them show you how to properly use it
