How do I stop my 2 yr old from being soo mean to his 1yr old brother?

We have two boys, a 2yr old and a 1yr old. My 2yr old is displaying extreme signs of jealousy that he never had before! When our youngest was first born, there was a little jealousy but not too bad, my oldest would just ignor him but then they were best freinds and now my 2 yr old hates his little brother and my youngest wants nothing more then for his love and attention. My oldest hits,kicks, pushes, yells and charges after his little brother. It's got to the point where my youngest gets scared, shakes and sits down and cries whenever he sees his older brother coming. SO sad and awful. I've tried everything you I can think of. I've tried extra attention to my olderst when my youngest is around and when he's not. I've tried to time outs, getting down to his level and talking to him, distraction, seperation. Nothing works, it's like my oldest cant hear or see anything other then the fact that he is being threatened by his younger brother and wants to hurt him for it. Why and what do I do? I can't watch this go on anymore, I know siblings will always fight but i can deal with that as long as the consequenses to their bad behavior somewhat phases them and nothing does with him. I need some good advice, anyone?

Wow, there is some reason he's lashing out....don't know what it could possibly be though. I would keep removing him from his little brother. Maybe if you do a simple rewards chart with him it might help. The second he isn't hitting tell him what a good job he's doing. Give him a sticker or something. Do it that second though or it won't work. So always have them in your pocket.

It's sad to see siblings being mean to each other. My daughters get into it too. They are 3 and 6 though and know better.
