My 20 month old can count to 7 what is normal for this age? I have a 35 month old that is counting to 20? I guess I would like to say I have smart kids thanks to nutrition but not sure if that is normal, great or behind? Would love to hear where everyone is....

My son helps me to count the measurements of milk into his bottle.
so he counts to eight
but I dont count that as counting because hes only mimicking what im saying.
children dont understand the importance or relevance of numbers until theyre actually using them for things like maths of if youre actually showing them what numbers mean like One block and two cars etc.. The people who are counting stairs are showing their kids that this is two steps, or three steps etc. I knew a girl who could count up to 100 and knew all of her ABCs by the time she was 18 months old. but just because she could repeat a sequence doesnt mean she knew how to count, or recognised what the numbers or letters meant. Every child is different. Kids learn to count when they get to school level. I dont think nutrition has anything to do with it, no more than carrots help you to "see in the dark" or spinach makes "your muscles grow like popeyes". And just because one child can do something and another cant, it doesnt make the other child slow or anything. there is no "behind" with children. There is only progression. Learning is learning no matter how fast or slow its done.

My son was obsessed with numbers at a very young age and could count to 10 before he said Mama (18 mo). He was a bit behind on the rest of his vocabulary, but that just recently took off too! It all depends on the child and what their interests are.

My daughter turned 2 in May so her favorite number is 2. She pretends to count things and just says "2,2,2,2,2" its so funny! lol But she can say all her ABCs.

My daughter could count to 10 @ 20 months and 5 in spanish at 24 months. But my son(he is only 9 months) is hitting his milestones a lot slower than her. He barely says da-da .

I have a 27 month old who has been counting to 10 since he was about 20 months old. All kids are different and learn at different stages. There really is no right or wrong!

My 4 yr old can count to 50 and my 2 1/2 yr old can count to 20. I didn't think my 2 yr old would ever learn her numbers, but one day she just picked it up and kept right on going. Every child is different and as long as their dr. says they are developing normally, then go with it. Mine also learned a lot from Nick Jr. Blues Clues taught my 4 yr old to count!

my 23 month old can count to about 15 and regcognise 1-10 but i dont honestly see why people seem to compete with things like this, all kids learn when theyre ready to. i teach my daughter what i can and when she seems interested but i wouldnt go ott with constant teaching at home and nursery, kids learn from playing so let them be kids!
and i know your question was just curious for your childs age, but theyre all different just have fun with them before they grow up

My 16 month old baby boy can count to 4 while my little girl was counting up to 11 when she was 25 months. Brain development really differ per child :)

my two year old can count to ten but that's mostly because of his older brother. My (just turned) 4 year old can count to 50 but we work on math almost every day so he's probably ahead of other kids his age?

My son is 20 months, extremely bright, understands 3 languages and is beginning to speak as well. He is doing puzzles and builds with his leggos, and hugs and kisses us all day. He doesn't count at all, but then again, we haven't bothered teaching him numbers yet!

my son is turning 3 in a cpl weeks and he doesnt seem to quite get the countin all the way he knows some of them, but he counts some out of sequence. my son knows all his colors tho he got them pretty quick. so i dont kno about the nutrition thing i just think it depends on the kid and how much u spend time on teachin them.

my son is 2 and can count to 30 but i don't think its just them saying it. it's them realizing what they are daoing. you can say something over and over and they are just repeating what they hear. my son can tell you up to 30 what the numbers are when he sees them

My son is 22months and could only count outloud to 10 two months ago, but he has known the sequence of the numbers up to twenty when we did his flashcards since he was 18mos. I would not worry just do some flashcards everyday and then one day she will just start saying them in sequence out loud just like my son is doing now. Now he can count to twenty out loud.

my daughter can count to 16(the number of steps we have) but loves 8,9..lol if you ask her to show you 1, she will hold 1 on her finger and can almost do 2. she can put her shoes up by herself. she has been holding a pen and scribling since she was 16 months old..she is now 20months old. she is on the second volume of your baby can read and goes to a montesorri daycare and also has two older brothers, one who is in the gifted program so she is always trying to do what they're doing.

my son is 2.5 andd he can count to 30 in english and 15 in spanish. (thank you bilingual toys) and he can work a computer, but my friends son is the same age and he can count to 10. I dont think at this age it matters as long as they are having fun learning all the new tools they will need to set them up for school.

When my daughter was 18mo she could count to 30. She is now 6 and I have a 18mo old son who cant count at all. All kids learn and grow at differant speeds, so I am not worried.

My son (2 1/2 years) can count to 10 and his speech therapist is amazed. She said that they expect a kid to know numbers up to their age until they go to school. I don't know about the nutrition part, but whatever the case, keep up the good work!

My son will be 2 next week. His counting is, "2, 3, 5, 10!" He recognizes most of the numbers 1-10 when he sees them, but his actually counting is sporadic, lol

I have a son who just turned 2 and i'm lucky if he can count to 5. There are times when he hears is brother count, so he can say other number, but not in sequence. I also have another son who is 3 and a 1/2 and he can count to 30.
