How to get a toddler interested in his preschool activities.

I have a 3 year old toddler who joined preschool this June. I have been told by one of his teacher that he usually turns his back towards her (only one of the teachers) during the circle time. She is never able to get his attention and when the other kids are doing their activities he just stands up and walks around like he is checking things out. How long do you think it should take for a toddler to settle down in a structured environment from his home playroom?

If he only does that when he's in her group maybe there's a kid or something that distracts him and it happens to be at the time she is giving a lesson. On the other hand if he's doing that in general maybe he's just finding it hard to focus because there's so much stimulation going on, tons of toys, kids, people and things going on around him, so he's trying to take it all in. I would say give it 3 weeks to a full month of regular attendance for him to adjust and be ready to pay attention. Daily attendance is better than going 2-3 days per week, if he only goes a few days out of the week it may take him even longer.

Hmm, maybe a few weeks? My daughter is three also and starting in September and I'm wondering how she will adjust.
