I agree with Jen about ignoring him and the want for attention. What is happening prior to the meltdowns? At this age, their attention span is so small. they get bored easily. Is something frustrating him ... like he attempted something and it didn't play out in his favor?

As far as handling them, if ignoring doesn't work ... You have to put your foot down. It's unacceptable. At 2 years old, they understand. Talk to him. Tell him it's ok to get mad, but yelling and screaming isn't going to get him what he wants, and it's not ok. He needs to try and tell you what's wrong. We tell our 2 year old daughter to STOP, Talk to Mom/Dad, What happened? What's wrong? Are you hurt? Are you ok? Most of the time she's ok, so we say, ok, stop crying ... then we try and "fix" the problem. If she keeps crying, we say ok, go to your room, when you're done crying, come and talk to us. This usually stops the crying because she wants our help.

Good luck. Most of all .. patience. Their "problems" and frustrations are usually a pretty easy fix. :)

with my son, we would just ignore him and walk away. a lot of times they are looking for attention (whether good or bad) and if you just ignore him, he will realize that it's not working. he did it a lot when he was tired, so i also tried to make sure he took a good nap and went to bed early and that seemed to help. i know sometimes it's hard to ignore them when they are throwing a fit, but it helped us to do that. good luck!
