my daughter is 7 and was a big fan of elmo and the wiggles when younger, she watched alot of tv but i don't think it had a bad affect on her, she'd play with toys while shows were on and i think she learn't alot of language skills from some of the preschool ones she watched. We are nearly at the halfway mark of the school year here and she's already passed her language and reading markers for her grade, maybe tv has helped who knows? my son is 2 and loves elmo the night garden and cars it gives him great enjoyment and i don't have a problem with him watching shows over and over repetition is good ( just getting sick of the same episodes lol) i like to hear his joy at hearing the start themes and its good time out for me to get my stuff done happy mum happy baby. besides kids tv shows have come a long way they're much more educational and stimulating these days! enjoy thats something so easy keeps them happy! cause its not long til they're saying mum...i'm bored!!!

Yes my little man (22months), has always had his fav show,s it had changed from time to time, but right now it is "In the Night Garden" - he asks to watch it ALL the time. We purcahsed him the DVD, and lets say, I know all 3 episodes by heart. The great part is he laughs at the same scenes each time.

My daughter is 17months old and loves watching Sesame street. Its the only show she keeps her eyes glued to. She will stand or sit infront of the tv for the entire show. Its really cute to watch her. She does enjoy the show cash cab too.

my daughter loves blues clues and dora, she doesnt yell, but gets a bit louder voice calling for steve and blue throughout the house, like she is looking for them, its really cute.

they taught her how to count, and say some spanish words.

i have been told by others not to let her watch so much tv, she does play with her toys to but, rather wants to watch blue and dora, nothing wrong with it, i mean she loves it and it teaches her things.

yes my 6 and 9 yr old love them you cant hardle get there attition ,my 21 month old could care less about tv always wanting to play ,rock ,or read books so weirred how differnt they all are ...

They are all too cute! My son likes the Dog Whisperer because he loves dogs even though we don't have one... The other thing he loves to watch is March of the Penguins and documentaries on birds, sea life, etc.... He imitates the baby penguins on March of the Penguins - its very funny....

My 2 year-old loves Ni Hao Kai Lan, and I do to! The characters look at you and speak clearly. They don't yell and scream and race around. The show also teaches good values like how to help friends, and how to deal with anger (I'm sure that's where my girl learned to say "I'm mad!"). She repeats some of the Mandarin words they teach too. She'll sit through an entire episode and request another. We've Tivo-ed nearly 20 episodes and watch them again. It's OK with me that my daughter likes these cute Chinese characters, and doesn't know (yet) who all the Disney characters are.

Yes, my daughter loves Curious George and anything Disney. It is fun to watch them interact with the TV. She talks and replies to things the characters say and laughs wen they laugh. I don't know about anyone else, but my 20 month old also loves America's Funniest Home Videos. Especially when there are other children on.

my 2 1/2 yr old daughter loves the telly her favourite shows are mickey mouses clubhouse and little einsteines,as soon as she gets up she puts it on to watch with her breakfast,i dont see the problem with children watching it if they are learning somthing from it my daughter nos so much stuff i didnt even no she new just from watchin the box.your not the only one lol xx

My daughter (she's 2) loves Wubbzy and Kia Lian. After that it's Dora and Diego. I know to much TV isn't good, but Wubbzy is the only one she'll sit for the whole time.My husband has been teaching her spanish so we like Dora and Diego just because they reinforce what we're doing with her. And we've all been learning a word or 2 here and there thanks to Kia Lian. We have a bit of cultural diversity here. So I love it when my redheaded Irish daughter speaks spanish to spanish speaking people. They're always so impressed and I get to feel like I have a genius for a daughter:)

I have to admit that prior to my first daughter being born i was kind of against the whole tv thing. but, naturally, when they arrive things r different. SpongeBob SquarePants is her favorite so i try to limit it b/c if let her she'll watch all day (i will admit that if i need to get something done w/o her "help" i wll put it on for her) she likes Kai Lan too and Mickey Mouse Club house. My friends tigger and pooh seems to have fallen out of favor. she also likes Reba. i guess as far as "big people" shows, that's pretty safe.

We watch Playhouse Disney. My 15 month old son LOVES the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Little Einstines. Somedays Mickey Mouse gets us through the 4 pm crankies before dinner when nothing else works!

My 13 month old has a few DVD's that she likes to watch, but for some reason she loves the adverts?? No matter what she's doing she'll always stop and be transfixed by them lol. Oh, and talk shows too, like Jeremy Kyle - when he starts shouting at people telling them that they're useless parents etc, and the audience cheers, she'll start clapping and laughing with them!

that is funny, we love Noggin, it is always on, his favorites are Yo Gabba Gabba and he loves Ni Hao Kai Lan too, he dances when her theme song comes on, stops whatever it is he is doing to run and watch the tv as soon as he hears it. He also loves Sesame street, Sid the Science Kid & Super Why.

My 14 month old son goes to the tv and says 'on' all the time. :) We don't have cable, so it's just videos/dvds that his sisters watch. He loves anything w/ horses or dogs in it. Good music so he can dance too. :)

My son watches Sponge Bob mostly but you can get him to watch Dora & Diego and Ni Hao Kai Lan. We have to have Sponge Bob on while he eats his meals otherwise he won't sit long enough to eat his meals. There are days and times I wish my son would sit and watch cartoons longer. He is a very active 3 year old and it's rough coming home after working an 8 hour day and having to chase him all over the place and not being able to get 5 minutes to sit and relax for a minute

ohhhh yes, my 2 year old daughter loves spongebob and dora the explora. She watches noggin mostly unless it is spongebob. I try not to let her watch the tv too much but she loves it

My oldest when he was about one loved Good Eats with Alton Brown on the Food Network. My 2-year-old loves the show Wipeout. I think the preschool shows where the characters "talk" to the kids makes them feel like they have a buddy. They don't understand yet that the characters are not real. So long as it's fun, and like you said, not baby-sitting, I think it's fine.

yea....my son does that with Ni Hao Kai Lan, Wow Wow Wubbzy and if you guys have ever heard of the DVD series called Baby Signs (it can only be bought on their website) He hears that intro and comes a runnin lol. If he's doing something else the room...he'll jerk his head around to look at the tv lol.

He even watches Food TV with me. Though he seems to like Guy Fieri more, when we watch Diners Drives in and Dives he likes to sit with Mommy and watch :D

my daughter has loved spongebob sence she was one. she is now three, now she gets glued to it when dora comes on. she also likes elmo's world. i just don;t let her watch hours of it but it is nice when theirs cleaaning to be done and you know she glued to the tv. i get lots done.lol
