I started my 3 yr old actually he will 4 on the 23rd to a summer school program but it is kind of a trial and run to see if he will be able to handle the 4 yr old program in the fall, so far he is doing great, and he loves it, it was hard at first, he cried and did not want me to go but now he loves it

My daughter turned 4 in May and will begin a 3 day per week schedule in August. I had neighbors start their children when they were 3. Instead, I started her in a Kindermusik program for socialization skills. She's very excited to start school and so am I. I went to several schools before I made my final selection. It might help if you do the same. You can get a feel for the school & how comfortable your child is at the school. Good luck!

It probably varies by state. In chicago,Illinois most public schools only offer half day(3hrs)for 3 & 4 year olds so I chose to put my kids in a semi private school(sliding scale)because I needed full time care.I put my son on the waiting list at age 1 by the time they called my with an open spot he was 3. He missed out on the 2 year old program so I put my daughter on the waiting list while I was still pregnant so she wouldnt.

My son will participate in a 3 year old class next fall, then the 4 year old class the following year before kindergarten. I started contacting preschools in February and by April most of them had waiting lists for the following year. Call the preschools and you can visit and take a tour. Many of them will want an application and registration fee to hold your spot.
