Thank you for the advice. I'm so glad that she's getting this done so young, like you said she won't remember it.

Dont worry its really not as bad as some are saying it is. Doont get scared cause if you do your baby will pick up on it and then get scared also. Act like its no big deal and then you baby will be the same. Your baby is still young. You guys will do just fine. You know I find that if I get so worked up over somethings like shots than i dont get them down. And as i understand the lead tests are important cause hopw dangerous it can be. So hun dont worry your baby will be fine and you baby wont even remember it being done mins later you know.

When my daughter had blood tests, I had her hold her on ,my lap while another nurse held her down and another nurse took the blood from her arm...it was awful but she did get over it quicker than I did!! Sorry

I appreciate everyone's replies. I really hope it's not from her arm, but if it is, thank you for the tips and I will make sure it's a really good phlebotomist that does it.

It might vary from hospital to hospital, but when my daughter had it done, they had to draw it from her arm just like an adult with a tourniquet and everything, this was recently, like three months ago, so if they do it that way, make sure to ask for their best phlebotomist to ensure that your little one only has to get poked once!

REALLY!??? when my son had his lead screening done, i asked if they were getting the blood from the same, or a diff foot then what his dr office just pricked. they said, "oh no we need more blood then what comes out of his foot" they had him sit on my lap, i had to fold one leg over his legs and wrap my arms around him like giving him a bear hug from behind. they then proceded to hold his arm down and fish for the vein in his arm! it took them forever to find it and he was screaming bloody murder the whole time. i felt soooo bad for him to have to go through that!

Oh, thank goodness! I can't imagine having to hold her down for them to get it from her little vein. Thank you very much for your help.

If I remember right, they prick his/her finger, then collect the blood drops. It will only hurt a few minutes!!
