We have to keep the put up at all times or she will get into them and suck on them. She likes to suck on the wash cloth when shes in bath tub also. It's so odd. When I mentioned it to the dr she just "humm"

A brand of baby wipes in Australia was recently withdrawn from sale due to the health risks they pose to children. The chemical, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate (IPBC) is toxic when inhaled by small children and has been linked with allergic skin conditions.

I wouldn't let my bub suck on commercial wipes at all (wet wash cloths yes) but if you are considered letting her I'd contact the manufacturer of your wipes to find out if they include this particular chemical.

Mya daughter would suck and chew on baby wipes too. I would assume it was a phase for her. It laster like 6 months. Her ped said its fine as long as she doesn't eat the wipe. But its ok if she sucks the juices out. They are not harmful since its such a small amount. So ya its kinda odd but nuttin to worry about.

I know you may try your best to keep the wipes from her, but I would suggest getting wipes that are "pure and natural" perhaps made for sensative skin. That would cut back on some of the chemicals. My 2 year old daughter likes to wipe her tongue with them. I thought it was odd, but I was encouraged to see she's not the only one.

Not anything I'd worry about. Just one of those funny things to embarrass her with when she gets older!
If it were really worrisome, the doctor would have said a lot more than "Hmm".

I agree, it's teething. So she's just sucking on anything moist.

I don't mind her sucking on the washcloth, I read that they help with teething. I just can't figure out what the deal is with the wipes.

Washclothes are fine, if she likes it I'd give them to her, can help with teething pain. Commercial baby wipes? Keep putting them up out the way, those things have nasty chemicals that she shouldn't be sucking on.

My daughter used to suck on wash cloths. Not baby wipes though. It is odd, but it's not unheard of.
