When we switched our daughter to whole milk, constipation started instantly. We took her to a few different doctors and nothing they said seemed to help. They told us to give her more fruits (which she ate a lot of anyway), and they told us to let her soak in a bath. The bath seemed to relax her a little but never did the trick. it got so bad that she was bleeding and we had to help her get it out. we also tried many over the counter laxatives for babies, and nothing worked with that either. One doctor finally told us to mix miralax in with her milk. That definitely worked, but the second we stopped giving her miralax, she would be constipated again. We finally figured out that for some odd reason, she would get extremely constipated whenever she had whole milk, but would be fine and happy if we gave her 2% milk. We still give her 2% and we no longer have a need for the miralax. She started all of this about the age of 1 and she is about to turn 2 and has been constipation free ever since we switched the milk and gave her miralax! It was a lifesaver!

I SWEAR by fortified Rice Milk. My daughter had the WORST constipation and within 2 weeks of switching, she was a different kid!

Try diluted apple juice, 1/2 water 1/2 juice. It may sound too good to be true, but it always worked like a charm on my son. If you give it straight up it may be a bit harsh on a little guy's tummy, but diluted works just fine and should be a bit more appitizing than prune juice!

Good luck!

My daughter has had a serious problem with constipation since she turned one (and was even in the ER for the extremely high temperature and pain it caused). And fiber wasn't her issue---all she eats is fruit, veggies and whole grains (with some protein). After trying soy (she's allergic) we discovered she's lactose intolerant and now she's on Lactaid. The conspitation is GONE!

MY daughter takes it more often then my son due to Gastroschisis.. Just kind of helps move things along with out pain that is y i like it so well.. have to be extra careful with little girl... it can be found at wal-mart otherwise speak with your doctor and see what they may recommend..Hope this is helpful.. take care and best wishes...
