My 27 month old hits himself, need some advice/encouraging words please!!

My little boy has been doing this for the past couple of months. I do know that it is out of frustration or when he is told no. He either bangs his head on the floor/wall or just recently he hits himself in the face :( It is really scary to me. I have been told it is normal and he will grow out of it. I have tried redirecting his anger, helping him, talking to him but he still does it and does it immediately.

Has anyone else been through this? any advice or encouraging words?

my son used to do this all the time!! the bruises that he would have after banging his head on the floor were horrible, i thought somebody would accuse me of beating him. i took him to the doc and asked him what to do and he also said it was normal and that he would grow out of it; and he did! when he started to throw his little tantrums i wouldnt pay any attention to him andj ust kept doing whatever i was doing and would not kiss his boo boo after and since he stopped getting a reaction from he, he eventually stopped

I haven't been through it, but I have heard of kids doing that. The only thing I can think of to try is to put him in another room and ignore it. As long as he isn't leaving marks/cuts on himself. It may be that he has gotten used to the attention from hurting himself. I'm not sure if it will work, but it may be worth a try. Good luck!
