I think kids will eat what they have when they are hungry or at least have them try a few bites of everything before you give them something else

Our doctor told us the exact same thing these moms are saying! (i am so relieved that y' all are going through it too! my daughter only eats hot dogs and muffins at panera! weird!) he said that kids will not starve themselves. you can fight them on it if you want to go through that, or just let it go. make the hot dog or nuggets and be happy that he/she eats that much. it is a stage and will pass in time.

Quoting Jennifer:

Keep encouraging him to try new foods each day. Keep telling him that he need to have one bite of the new food before he can have any chips and nuggets. (It may also help if he sees you try the new food first.) Then I would gradually decrease the amount of chips and nuggets and increase the amounts of other foods on his plate. If he is hungry he will hopefully try the new foods. If he asks for more chips and nuggets tell him no more until he tries the other foods. Experts say it takes up to 10 tries before a child will accept a new food so don't give up. I never give my son more than 4 or 5 french fries to start off with. He knows I will give him more as a reward if he eats the other foods on his plate. Good luck.

I dod the same thing with my son Jennifer, I give him a few chips (he LOVES chips) and if he wants more he knows he has to eat fruit or veggie or sandwich, whatever else is on his plate before he gets more.

Vicky, my suggestion to you would be don't give him anymore chips or nuggets. Only give him things you want him to start eating. Eventually he will eat.....like someone else said kids will not starve themselves. Once he starts eating other things give him his favorites as a treat every once in a while.

In my house I make one meal and if you don't eat it you can eat at the next meal. My son eats every kind of veggie and fruit imaginable and prefers these over anything else. Good Luck!!

you have two options. 1- stop worrying. lots of kids eat nothing but chips and nuggets and live through it. :) or 2- you can be strict...kids won't let themselves starve...so you can offer a meal and give nothing else..no snacks, no nothing. if they ask for snacks say "you can have the rest of your meal!" ..it won't last long...they'll eat eventually. maybe not that day, but the next. it's up to you. :)
