My daughter won't poop on the toilet at daycare

My daughter will be 3 in November and is fully potty trained at home but it seems lately at daycare she will not go poop on the toilet and is having accidents in her underwear. Seems like it is only when certain staff members are working, I have voiced my concerns with the staff but I feel like nothing is changing. Any suggestions?

I work in a daycare as a 3 yr old teacher and I see this happening a lot. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you but I can tell you that it happens more than you would think. Just Monday a parent came to me with the same concern. I could only reensure her that I was sending her son to the potty and the bathroom is open for whenever they need to go. He is new in my class, (moved up from the 2 yr old room) maybe that has something to do with. Maybe its their level of comfort with that particular teacher.

My daughter was really bashful when it came to pooping in the "potty", I read a book that I would recommend to all moms called "Positive Discipline" which explains a lot about this. It says that most kids do this because when they are being changed moms have the tendency to say "eewww stinky" or "yucky that's gross" or something along those lines. So then they start associating pooping as being bad....so even though you would rather they poop in the toilet, start by praising them when they poop in there diaper and just reassuring that next time she would be such a big girl if she went in the big girl potty. Or dump her diaper in to the toilet showing her that this is where the poop goes. I did this with my daughter and now i have a harder time with her peeing in the toilet. But she was really bashful about pooping and would hide under tables and stuff until I tried this. Good luck!
