Quoting Rebecca:

calamine lotion and tell him not to itch them they will spread if itched.

When my son (and husband!) had them my gp said not to use calamine any more as it dries them out too much and can cause scarring. Which makes sense but whatever works i guess

I used Pinetarsol, it really smells but stops the itch and helps them heal. Put it in their bath and i think it can be diluted and put directly on spots. You should be nearing the end of you cpox ordeal maybe another week...good luck

When my boys had chicken pox, I only remember them having new breakouts for the first week(maybe 9 days), if you can keep him from scratching they wont spread or leave scars. I think everything was cleared up in about a month... the doctor can tell you which lotions to use to stop the itch, but my Grandma told me to use oatmeal in a warm bath to ease the itching, I even tied some inside a dish towel(while in the bath) and rubbed it over their skin, and it really seemed to work, you can also do this for poison ivy!
