He is almost 2 and HAS to have his nuk when he goes to bed. I don't let him have it anymore during the day but he cries for it all the time. How can I get him to forget about it?

Well I used to work at a daycare and we have a child there that wouldnt give up his nuk so we cut the end of it and you keep cutting it till its all gone. I dont like he will want it again after he sees you cut it. It will take a little while to get him to take a nap but just stick with it

My daughter is 23 months and we just took hers away a couple weeks ago. We just quit cold turkey. She loves lotion, so we put a little bottle in the basket where we used to keep the pacifiers then whenever she went over and asked for one, we'd just give her lotion and she'd forget why she went over in the first place.
Naptimes were the hardest. She cried on-and-off for about an hour the first three days, but only cried like 15 minutes the first night and that was it. She's completely over it now, and as an added bonus, we've noticed that she's talking a lot better! :)
The biggest thing is that once it's gone - it's gone. Stay strong momma! And good luck!

give him a goal or make it part of his next visit to the pediatrician - "you're 2 now, this is when you give your NUK the doctor b/c you don't need it anymore! hooray!" and it may help if you get him a lovey for bedtime, that stays in his bed, if he doesn't already have one, that he can read books with at nap and bed times. i bought two loveys, one for travel and in case the first one gets lost somehow. (i hide this one from her in my dresser drawer so she doesn't know it exists.)

take his nuk, and have him walk with you to the trash can. when ya'll get there hand it to him and have him throw it in the trash. then have him say bye and take the bag outside. it's the easiest way that i know...lol. all my friends have had a horrible time with this, and this is what they all did in the end.

If you can, try to find something else that he likes more and tell him if the nuk doesn't go the other thing he likes does. It may seem harsh, but sometimes it's the only way it works. Good Luck!
