Time to get our little man some "big boy" furniture for his room. We have baby #2 on the way, and we plan to use his nursery furniture in the new babies room. We live in a 3 bedroom condo and are going to have little to no space for company and over night guests. We're trying to figure out if it would be best to go with bunk beds (one that has a full bed on bottom, so he can use it for a while), or a full bed with a trundle, or a bunk bed that also has a trundle.....I am just looking for some suggestions on what would be the best idea. Has anyone ever had to try to "make" more sleeping space for guests, and if so what was the best choice to do so?????

I have considerably less space...2bdrm & 2 boys...When I was pregnant w/#2 we were online and I picked a few beds that I would be okay with purchasing and let my son pick his bed. We got a Lightening McQueen toddler bed (I was trying to fit 2 kids in one room though...) And the crib we have is a convertable crib w/changing table so the things pretty big! Anyways...to accomodate guests we have a futon in our living room. I'm considering getting a queen size inflatable mattress (mostly for camping) that could also accomodate more guests. But in reality I don't care too much...How often to you have over night guests? And of your overnighters are any couples, have kids, need more space, or privacy? If you have someone that needs more space/privacy then I think having a bunk bed would not work out soo well? I mean, do you want your boy sharing a room with a visitor? Or do you want your visitor to feel comfortable? I know my boy won't even sit still if his brother is in his room!!! It might be a better idea to get him a double? and have a small cot for your son to share w/his baby brother? OR have a bunk bed and get an inflatable bed, so your baby can share w/big brother & your guest can take over the baby room??? IDK? Only you know who's coming over and what would work best in your situation!!! BUT in regards to your son getting a new bed & baby taking his furniture...I'd try to let him pick his new furniture, and take down the baby furniture (take it apart) and leave it apart for some time, maybe repaint it?, and put it back together just before you need it! Start early! This way your son doesn't think he is losing his bed to the baby!!! Congratulations!!!
