My daughter is 18mths, I have always put clips and things in her hair but the longest they last is 1 hour if that. I know it just means she doesnt like them but my sisters wedding is coming up and I was hoping that she would wear a nice clip i got for her, Any tips on getting her to leave it in?

Also she is very active and Im out of ideas of activities to do with her during the day. Money is tight and we cant go out, shes VERY active and doesnt like to sit still long, I also think she isnt getting enough stimulation (learning) during the day and we are still waiting for a spot to open up for her in day care. Any ideas on some things to keep her stimulated and amused?

We do play dough, bubbles, drawing, play with blocks and dollies, I read to her, she helps me clean and runs around in the back yard, we go for a morning walk and she is usually happy to play by herself

Oh, and the clips..let her put some ok your hair. You put hers in..exaggerate the "oh my goodness, we are so beautiful!" in the mirror. Worked for my three little sisters and my daughter!

Do you have a Barnes and Noble book store near you? They have story time with special guests (like Clifford the Big Red Dog) and it is free. Ours is every other week but I know it depends on the area. Usually week day evenings. Our movie theater has matinees in the mornings for $1. Those movies are ones recently out on DVD (they recently had Cars2) but it's still fun for the kiddo and only $2. I'm not sure where you live but I'm from Houston where we have free family nights at the museums, miller outdoor theater which is great for picnics, too! They put on a show for kids and it's free. Maybe you have something similar. Our Zoo also has free days, very crowded but tons of kids! Or if you receive government aid, it's free all the time..not sure if you have Gattitown near you but kids under three eat free with adult buffet purchase..which is

Many libraries have 'classes" for children of diffrent age groups. Also many malls have places for children to run & play now. Anywhere that you can get her out moving around. See if your local Day care's or YMCA's have drop in play times. They might cost, but she will get interaction with other children as well as getting a chance to see what she will be doing when she does begin pre school. Seeing the other children sitting & participating in group activities & story/rug time might help. Good luck.

letteroftheweek.com is a great website to keep your daughter's mind and body active.

parks are always good. They cost nothing (except maybe a bit of fuel or a bus fare if there aren't any within walking distance of you) and the more popular parks are also great for meeting other mums and gives your daughter a chance to play with some other kids.

I was just going to say that the library has story times and activities, also try meetup.com. It's about $12 a year to join a mommy group, usually. Find a rec center that has play groups in your area. We have one that has play group for $2. It usually lasts about 1.5 hours. There may be free kindermusik, or going to the park, cider mill and just petting the animals. But definitely try meetup, they always have great free or cheap ideas.

my son was this age when we started playing hide and seek in his room... I would hide (usually in the closet lol) and call out "where is mommy" he would find me and was amused everytime! it is a good way to help him learn searching I guess lol. Or I would hide his fave bear and do the same thing. I also created a ball toss thing to improve his coodination and skill.

I know you mentioned your budget was tight, but can you take her to the library? I take my 2 boys there all the time now and often they have an interactive play with music and song.
