My son Stephen is two and a half; he has so much energy that it is hard for him to settle down especially at night. He goes to a day care center and they play him out all day long he eats good and a lot. but only weighs 24 pounds. Many people tell me not to worry about his low weight that it is within range for his height. He wears me thin out as well as my classes and working to make some money to survive. How can I let him run out energy so he will actually settle down at night?? I have to put in Blues clues at night to get him to stay in bed and go to sleep. It works but is it bad to put children to sleep using tv??

I have an almost 3 year old who weighs 27.5 lbs and has endless energy as well. He is like the energizer bunny of crack (kidding). I let him watch tv while I am getting dinner ready (I work full time out of the house) as I need about 45 minutes in the kitchen when I get home. After dinner we usually go for a walk/bike ride and the tv goes off. Can you try and get him to read instead of tv? I know the feeling of just being exhausted and desperately wanted some of your own down time. You asked if it was "bad" to put them to bed with tv and I don't know how to answer that except to tell you that it wouldn't be something I would want to do. Maybe you could use soothing music and book time instead. Just my thoughts...good luck and hope you get some rest.
