We made an Alice in Wonderland-inspired party for our 3- turning-4-year-old this January, because she'd liked the short version of the book and then the Disney movie... and thought we were soooo clever. Until we looked on Pinterest, and as it turns out, were just some of the thousands who'd thought of exactly. the. same. thing.
There's so much creative license with this kind of party: we made long tables (family style, friends and their families came too) with tea party accessories; we made a pin-the-tail-on-the-Cheshire-cat game, and a bean bag toss into the "rabbit hole" game. The kids had a blast--and they wore their silliest hats!

You can always check places like for girls, like the Hello Kitty Store, or Girl's Spas, where party packages are available, and usually they include decorations, activities, party favors, and in some cases food and cake. You just show up (and pay, of course), but it's very convenient and stress-free. I did it for my daughter's 3rd birthday at Sweet 'N Sassy. It was a princess theme party, and I invited just girls (8). It was a dream come true for her, and her friends. But if you like to DIY, I have some ideas on my blog: www.partyidea.co
