My little boy is 17months. very picky eater. wil start eating off fine. then decides he dont want any more. or he will be glad to eat cheetos all day. And stil prefers to drink milk all day over good food. Should i be worried he's not eating enough or is he just being picky for his age?????hmmmmm

just make sure you put vitamin drops in the milk then. keep giving food first with water at meal time. the milk he can have when meal time is over.

I'm sorry would try and cut some of the milk throughout the day. Like don't give him a cup of milk right before dinner, that will cause him to be full and not eat, Kids are picky eaters at this age.

My peds doc said that you should try and cut out milk when they start getting older only give it to them with meals if you can. Also my little guy doesn't like to eat much either. My doc says to keep offereing food to him. Say you're having breakfast, eggs, sausage, whatever, if he doesn't eat it then wrap it put it in the fridge and save it for the next meal. My little guy is 2yrs and 4 months and still weighs 30 pounds, he continues to gain, just slowly, he's not unhealthy he just doesn't eat. I would try cutting some of the milk it tends to be a filler and that's why they don't eat.

I had the same problem with my daughter. I started watering her milk down and offering healthy food constantly all day. She is now a better eater (3 in Dec) but she will still ask for a bottle instead of saying she is hungry, I have to get in first with the offer of food

Both my sons only drank milk and ate vegemite toast at this age up to i think around 24 months i was completely worried but apparently its a stage some kids go through all i did was kept trying to get them to eat other stuff even if it was only 2 spoonfuls i would praise them they gradually started eating other foods but it takes time and patience they are now 2.5yrs and 4.5 yrs and are still picky eaters but they have learnt to eat food if they want to grow big and strong like daddy!! try a simple spoonful of your mashed potatoes even put a dab of sauce on it. A tip i was told was to pretend to take a tiny bit off the spoon first and go "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" make a big deal on how yummy it is then give them a shot sooner or later he will surprise you and actually want more. let me know how you go.

My 7 yr old daughter was the same, she always wanted milk, I just kept on introducing her to new foods eventually she started to try them and now she eats most things without a problem, its just a battle of wills, keep trying, dont stress out or make an issue of it and eventually he will start to see some benefit from new foods, esp if u make a fuss about how wonderful they are when around him, without giving them to him straight away, make him think ur eating it first he will soon want some of the wonderful things mummy has.
