My nephew has lung issues, it has gotten better since he has gone on advair. He is also expected to grow out of it. I would make sure you have a humifier in his room, and if you have any pets make sure they stay out of his room. You might also try elderberry syrup for his cough.

No they did not test him for food allergies, which will be the next step. That was my first thought that whopping cough could of caused scar tissue or something since he was coughing until he turned blue for several months. But doctor said it did not look like it. But i will ask about his lungs at the next visit. Thank you,! I always thought food allergies caused break outs and other symptoms but finding out that his symptoms might be food allergies gives me some hope t that i might find a way to help my little guy!

I have never experienced this, as both of my kids are fairly healthy. My son had strep and ear infections for about 6 - 9 months straight after he turned one and my daughter had croup at about 8 months. I wonder if your son having the whooping cough at 3 months may have weakened his lungs? If that is even a possibility, I wonder if there is something that can be done to help strengthen his lungs? Every thing you say he has had is related to his lungs. Maybe it is something to ask the specialist. You have had him tested for environmental allergies, but did that include foods too? My mom is allergic to cheese, soy sauce, pepper, celery, and coffee products. You know what her symptoms are? She gets congestion and a cough when she eats too much of it. She really shouldn't eat any of those things, but she is a 50+ year old woman and she can do what she wants. :) Anyway it could be something he is eating. Just because it don't cause your eyes to water or your mouth/throat to swell or hives to appear on your body doesn't mean that you can't be allergic to it. Maybe another thing to talk to the specialist about. Hopefully this helps you out. It is just me thinking about what could cause him to get sick so much. Good luck.

Awe, sorry to hear that. But I know where your coming from all 3 of my kids whom are now older had the same thing for the first I guess 3 years of there lives. Seemed as soon as they got better I only had about a week or 2grace period before they would catch something else. I took them to drs frustrated all the time, but on the bright side they seldom ever get sick now. But I have a 29 month old who is following older siblings steps. I feel for u, my post was meant to let u know ur not alone.
