Hi Frens, any idea how can we start potty training? My boy would normally plays with the potty i/o sits on it...Shall we remove his diapers with pants only and teach him pee and poo when it gets wet/ dirty?

First look for signs he is ready. Telling you that he went, hiding when he goes and showing a intrest in the potty. If you think he is ready get some "big boy undies" and show him the potty explain to him what it is and what you do on it and then ask him every 15 mins or so if he has to go. If he says no I would insist that he sits on it every 30 mins. When he goes praise him and let him know that he has done a great thing.

I think your son will let you now when he's ready to be potty trained, alot of time if they hide to do their business, it means that he is embarrassed about going in the diaper and this might be a good time to start the training, but please know that this can be as frustrating on him as well as you, and no two children will be potty train the same way, my oldest son liked for me to put a couple cheerios in the toilet to see if he could make them "swim" but hey, it worked, and my other son would just go where ever the urge hit him, embarrassing, yes, but again it worked, and my girls just went on their own to the potty as I took them in with me...good luck with your potty training adventure!

have a timer and set it for 15 minutes. Every 15 minutes make him go sit for 5 minutes. When they do have success extend the amount of time on the timer before the next time you make them go, then go back to 15. When they have success let them pick a sticker to put on a potty chart. It's time consuming but really works. You kind of have to pester them, but they will eventually get the picture :)

If u want him to go I think u should take him completely out of diapers bc it confuses them. It is a lot of work for some, bc my oldest was trained by 2 and my baby is 3 and he still uses it on himself sometimes. Wat I have found out is that pull ups don't work, go straight to the training underwear and ask him every 20 to 30 mins if he has to go and take him anyway. That way he hears it and after a while he relates going to the potty with the bathroom.
