HELP! My 3 1/2 yr old daughter asolutely refuses to use the 'big girl potty'. She doesnt seem the bit interested and when I bring up the topic to her she freaks out. My 19 month old daughter has recently started using the potty and thinks she is just the best thing because of it. Ive read all the books tried everything nothing I've tried has worked. Its a constant battle. I would like to enroll her in preschool but if shes not potty trained she cant go. This doesnt even persuade her. She wants to go to school but not on the potty.

Wow, that does not sound fun! Maybe just stop putting her in diapers and/or pullups. Maybe wetting all over herself a couple of times will change her mind. We live out of town, and I put my girls in dresses w/nothing on underneath for a couple of weeks and that always seems to do the trick. I also try not to schedule anything where I have to take her in public so she doesn't get to put a diaper back on. Maybe if she can't go anywhere until she can put big girl panties on and not wet them... I've got 5 little ones and #6 is on the way. It seems to be a lot easier with the older child role model, but it seems you may have the role model thing reversed. Mine have all started using the big potty at about 20 months give or take and are fully potty trained by 3. Good luck!!

Thank you both so much for help. I tried to let her wet herself and for some reason it doesnt matter to her. Its the same thing I went through with my now 7 1/2 yr old. She started school late because she was just so reluctant. I will be trying the potty chart this next week. We picked out stickers and she seems excited so far. Thanks again for the help and any other suggestions I would love to hear!

My daughter turned 4 in March of this year and she just became completely potty trained last wednesday. When I first tried potty training she was like 2-2 1/2 and it wasn't working out so I just gave up. Then we started again and we were doing great with her peeing in the potty but she would poop in her pants. She seemed to be content with that...although I was not. Like you I tried so many things...she wanted to be in dance class and i told her that she had to be able to pee and poop in the potty every day in order to do that. Still nothing. Finally we got a potty chart with Week 1 and Week 2 on it. She had stickers that she could pick out and put on there herself for every time she pooed in the potty. She was so excited about this. This is what helped us and now she is finally completely potty trained...and I am relieved. Now I have my 15mo. old son to work on next. Not looking forward to pee pee on the walls but hey...

Hope this helps out. Good Luck!!! :)
