My daughter's pediatrician said I have to make her transition from bottles to sippy cups. I have bought so many different kinds of sippy cups but she'll take a few sips at most. I've also tried putting apple juice, milk, water, etc. in them for her to drink but she won't. Today she cried for a 1/2 hour for her bottle and then threw up so of course I gave in and gave her a bottle. I don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

My husband and I had a hard time to until we found the best sippy cup. It was a 3 stage transition. First stage is a new bottle with the original nipples from my sons bottles. This way he got used to holding something new but the nipple was the same as he always had. Once he got used to that he went to the next nipple. Same round shape but had to do a little sucking. He is finally on the last stage. It was great. Nuby made it. I found it at CVS and my husband found it at babies r us. It took about 3 weeks to switch to the second level, not sure how long for level 3. Good luck and let me know if it helps.

For my two we took them to the store and told them that they were gonna be big kids now and that they got to pick out their own big boy/girl cups that they get to use instead of their baby bottles. We let them each pick out which sippy cup they wanted and slowly brought it in. If you and her are both having a rough time with the transition, bring it in slowly, make the bottle only available at certain times a day and tell her she has to use to big girl cup the rest of the time. it's gonna be hard but you gotta hang in there, if she throws a fit just walk away and let her get over it then give her the sippy again. good luck!

you just have to stay strong! i know that it will be hard :'( but you've gotta do it... change is always hard but she will adjust just fine as long as you stick to it and don't give in, ok? that is all i can say really... just trust that there is nothing wrong.. she is only throwing fits because she doesn't want the change and nothing more.
