We have a gas stove and there is a glass window on the front of the oven portion and it gets REALLY HOT! We just moved to this apartment and of course, we didnt realize it and my 1 year old son touched it while I was cooking and didnt exactly burn his hand, but I think it really scared him and did very lightly burn him. However, it is now making me extremely nervous. I cant seem to find anything online that would childproof this. Does anyone have any suggestions for childproofing a glass window of a stove? If I cant find anything, I will just have to put the little man in the pack n play when using the stove, which I hate to do! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

what about a fireplace surround. it doesn't really attach to the stove but it keeps him back a bit and under supervision you can teach him too stay away without the risk of injury. Best luck.

I would maybe try putting some foam on the window, like those "egg crates" that you put on your bed to make it feel more comfy. Also, tell him "HOT!" and "DANGER" when he starts to even walk toward the stove, even if it's not on. He will start to get the idea that he shouldn't be by the stove :)

If you can't put up a baby gate to keep him out of the kitchen itself, then you're going to have to put him in the playpen after all. This is his safety we're talking about, after all. You might move the playpen so that you can interact with him while you're in the kitchen--- that might soothe the "pain" of his being entrapped there. But his safety is more important than anything else. Good luck!

They have these kind of insulated bags for long trips, like a cooler but they store easier, they look like tin foil. Maybe try taping one of those to the window on the stove. Also look to lowes or home depot, go in and ask and explain to an associate what happened and they may have an idea (without replacing the stove, I know those can be expensive and that would be up to your landlord.)

edit: those insulated storage bags can usually be found at Wal-mart or a grocery store

Oh that's really tricky! I did a google search and couldn't find a single thing. I think you're probably going to have to find a way to keep him out of the kitchen. Maybe a baby gate ( they have them that are adjustable to different sizes) until he learns that the stove is hot and can't be touched.

I hope this helps! Good luck!
