Stuck limb in crib

Twice last night my 18mo has gotten limbs stuck in-between the slats on his crib. Both times it has been a leg, the most recent being the fattest part of a bent knee. I've long removed the bumber that would have prevented this. Any ideas on how I can prevent it? He's too little to move to a toddler bed (and my TB would be the crib without the front gate anyway).

I am terrified of cribs. I do not use mine. There have been too many deaths due to cribs. My suggestion is to be if you are set on using a crib is to move it into your room. also, you really should find out if there has been a recall on your model. Just thinking of putting my daughter in a crib scares me to death.

first off 18 mo is not too young to move to a toddler bed as I moved my son to his at 13 months and my daughter will be moving into hers here right away and she is 14months I just put it in there room so they could learn to climb on and off of it safely and then took out the crib....my son used to spin in circles when he slept and yes often got limbs caught in the bed the only options I can think of is switch out of the crib mode or put the bumber pads back on

I hope you understood that I meant to "modify" your crib, not go out and spend a fortune on a TB, unless you can get a great deal at a garage sale (those are big in Michigan this time of year)!

Scary! Yeah, I would do the TB thing... my mother in law has "invented' a TB when she watches my son...has one of those bed gates up instead of the rail. I don't know the right terms, so hopefully you understand what I mean. Maybe get another bumper pad and secure it very well?

i moved out thrasher daughter out of her crib at 18 months b/c i was going in and getting her unstuck 5 times a night. i bought her a bed, double bed rails, a step stool and she's been very happy. you may just need to gate her room at night so she can't wander out.
good luck!
