I want to start weening my 8 month old from breast feeding to bottle feeding. I've tried to feed him 2 kinds of formula thus far. Problem is he either gags on it or refuses to take it once he realizes what he's got. Any suggestions?

My daughter was breastfeed until she was almost 10 months. To ween her off was hard but it takes patience. If your son hasn't had a bottle on the regular bases he may not know how to suck out of it properly. My daughter's doctor recommended Good Start. It's closer to breast milk. Good Luck. Also go to different websites and see if you can get a free sample of it

Hey, Have you tried giving him the formula from a sipper cup instead of a bottle, he may not like the teat on the bottle and may enjoy the novelty of a cup. This worked well for a friend of mine with her little man at that age. It may also help if someone else gives him the bottle to start with as he can smell the breastmilk on you and wont want the formula when booby is so close! A small change in his routine may also help him forget that  certain times of the day are booby time. Good luck!!!

have ou ever pumped?  because switching to a bottle from the breast is difficult ....taste the difference it is gross......that formula ewww..........but it is easyer to switch to a bottle if you have breast milk in it first....and a breast shaped nipple.......and maybe ur bottle nipple is too slow or too fast ...because both can cause gaging......and if he is working too hard for it he will give up too....because it is fast from a breast........  makesure to try to keep him close to your skin ...sometimes thats all it is ..is that the close time is important to him...if that doesnt work try to get someone else to feed him ..because he relates u to breast feeding ....it is really all trial and error all babies are different some more needy than others...
