I have an 11 month old son whose day time napping patterns are changing heaps. He is up around 7.30am and has a 30min nap at 11amish and then back to bed at around 3pm for an hour. Sometimes he doesnt want his morning sleep and im just wondering if hes starting to not need it anymore. What ages did your babies stop having 2 sleeps per day?

My son was probably about 10 mths old when he stopped taking 2 naps a day. Now he gets up at about 7:30a-8a takes a nap after lunch which usually lasts about 2 hrs & goes to bed around 8p. The older they get the less sleep they need during the day. But I'm sure it does vary depending on the child. Maybe just try it out & see how he does :)

My daughter just turned 2 and has suddenly decided a day sleep is no longer required (I miss my me time in the middle of the day) but I can't complain as without her day sleep she goes to bed an hour earlier so sleeps from 6pm until 7.15am and is then up all day. She started having just one midday sleep at 12months.

my two year old has never been a good night sleeper, she does much better during the day, went down to one nap around a year old and it's 2-3 hours in the afternoons still and my just turned one year old is working herself into just one nap a day right now, preferring a 2 hour morning nap with the occasional 30 minute afternoon nap. I am hoping to get her into an afternoon 2 hour so that I have both girls down at the same time . . . that's always nice when it works!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My little guy, 17 months, still takes 2 naps unless we're running a lot of erands or out of the house all morning. When he misses his morning nap he tends to take an extra long afternoon nap. I also still manage to get my 4 year old to at least have some quiet time in her room every afternoon for 1-2 hours. My kids have always been great sleepers. They do get up early in the morning, but that works out well with our schedule so I just have to deal with it on the weekends.

my daughter is almost 2 and she naps once a day. i put her down around noon and she is up normally between 130 and 2 in the afternoon. she then goes to bed normally between 730 and 830 most nights. she started having one nap probably about 10 or 11 months i think...

my boys are 2 and 3 and they have recently stopped taking naps and my oh my was that a rude awakening for me.. at that age though my boys would wake up fairly early but i would keep them up feed them lunch at noon and put them down for a nap at 1230 and they would get a good 2-3 hr nap in! so try keeping them up longer feed him a hearty lunch and then put him down. it worked for all of my kids!! still works once in awhile now!!

We stopped 2 nights when my daughter was 11 months. It was becoming a continuous fight to get her down for her naps and again at night time. So we do one nap after lunch usually between 12-1 and she sleeps for about 2 hours. I don't usually let her sleep past 3 though. Then she is back in bed at 8ish 830.

My son was just over a year when he dropped his morning nap in lieu of a slightly longer afternoon nap.
It was getting to be a fight to get him down in the morning and then he would refuse the afternoon nap and then dinner was atrocious. Finally I just dropped the morning nap, he was a little grumpy at lunch, but started napping better in the afternoon and sleeping better at night.

my 2 year old moved to one nap around 17 months - which is pretty late. i really pushed two naps, as i also have a infant and really needed the break. my motto was "if you honor the nap, it will honor you". so, i was religious about putting him down at 10 & 2. now, my 13 month old is moving to one nap. i let her take the lead. somedays, she will skip her morning nap - in which case, i keep her up till the second. and then - i get TWO kids napping at the same time! oh, joy!!

i hope my kids take a nap for a long, long time yet.

My oldest who is now a little over 2 1/2 stopped morning naps around 10 or 11 months. She also stopped naps all together around 2. My youngest who is now 15 months is all over the board still. She's a great napper morning or afternoon.
