I agree with Natalie. When my daughter throws a tantrum because she's wants something, I say to her " I can't understand through your tears. Sit here and when you are ready, come talk to me". She usually calms down quickly and can try to tell me what she needs. As a rule, I try to give tantrums as little attention as possible and I won't try to talk to a child who is screaming and crying. It just ends up frustrating us both more.

I hope this helps! You're not alone!

I am guessing it's your 3-year-old. Well what I do and have started this since she was 6 months having tantrums was a time out spot. and just keep putting him back until he knows that you don't understand him if he's crying. I would tell my daughter to sit here and calm down, when she is calm down she can come and show me what she wants or what she is trying to say to me. It has worked well for me. You kind of have to just work with him. Also if you can make like little pictures of things around the house that he can't point to so that he can show you what he is meaning. Hope it helps.
