my daughter is a chow hound, but she seems to only eat finger food like Gerber pasta pickups, carrots, peas, chicken nuggets, fish sticks(but only the batter), and pizza rolls. she loves snacks and she will let me feed her mac & cheese and some other food. She loves cereal, bagels, waffles, pancakes and pop tarts, so breakfast isn't a problem, but lunch and dinner i feel as though she isn't getting a good variety of food. She is growing just fine, and the doctors aren't worried, i'm not worried either i just want other ideas for finger foods that she'll eat. She doesn't like hotdogs anymore, either

try fried plantains. they're not good raw but cut them diagonally and fry them until a little crispy, my son LOVES them!

Anything you can cut up small enough to where she will not choke. My youngest is 15mths and she will eat anything we put in front of her. We just have to make sure it is cut up small enough. My little girl LOVES bananas and she will come up and break off half of a banana and eat it and come back for the other half. You just have to experiment with the foods that you, yourself, eat everyday to really find out what she likes.
Try letting her feed herself. It may get messy but it is a learning/fun experience for them. Applesauce, jello, things like that are pretty easy for them to feed themselves.

I say let her have at whatever she likes, she will let you know what she doesn't prefer lol.

Good luck :)

thanks for the ideas, she does like fruit, but "normal"chicken and beef she just spits out, i was able to give her some pork roast last week, but she only ate a few bites, she doesn't like grilled cheese or pb. She has 12 teeth (8front, 4molar), i think i will start giving her a spoon again. We'll see how it goes, i think i will try the potato idea, she started to like mashed, she didn't before, and she really wants to feed herself. thanks again for the help

my 13 month old eats alot of fresh cut up fruits and veggies.. things that are too hard for her are steamed and baked to soften them...sounds like your daughter is lacking the healthy foods

my son is the SAME exact way and he is 15 months! I usually just give him what we are having for dinner. It's fun showing him new foods, and most of them he really likes! it's also great on your budget too since you wont have to buy all those baby entrees anymore!

Start teaching her how to use a spoon. I was surprised at how well my son was able to handle one. Does she have all her teeth? I fed my son small pieces of meat at that age. I did a lot of roasted chicken and turkey since it was more tender. Meatballs cut in to small pieces was also a big favorite. I started making him cheese eggs after age one too.

I'd try something like grilled cheese that you could cut into manageable pieces, small ravioli (you can usually find mini ones frozen), and any fruit or veggies you can make finger food. My son loved broccoli and apples. I also cut squash, potatoes, and sweet potatoes into small chunks and boil or bake until soft, but not too mushy, so he could still pick them up.

Just give her what you're having. Why can't you do that? Lasagna tonight? Put some lasagna on a plate and give her a fork. Stir fry? Put stir fry on a plate. Corn on the cob, shrimp, steak, chicken drumsticks, rice and bean meals.

There is absolutely no reason you cannot begin to let her share in the family meal.

Oh man... I wish I had something to contribute. My girl used to be such a good eater, she wanted to feed herself all the time, half an avacado cut into chunks, PBJ toast, brocolli, peas, everything.... now I have to make super food smoothies to hide foods in and make her think its a milkshake because she thinks its still "milk" and aside that she loves fried rice still.. thank god. :) Good luck on your foody adventures!
