Hi..My 19 month old baby boy is a picky eater...most of the times, he does not eat that much..sometimes he does eat what I give him but he only eats a few bite and then starts rejecting my next offer.. Although I give him vitamins, I still can't help to worry about his being a picky eater...any suggestion is very much appreciated.....thanks a lot!!

My son loves spaghetti, you can get little character noodles that will be easier to pick up, for the longest time I would make him spag w/penne pasta or the garden variety spirals (whenever possible I'll buy whole wheat noodles). He refuses meat unless he has a dipping sauce, he has a no white sauce issue at the moment, but loves BBQ & ketchup. You could also try having babe dip in yogurt or spag sauce depending on what you're feeding them...textures seem to be big w/my bub...He won't eat fresh veggies (@ 3) unless its broccolli? He loves broccoli!!! We do stir frys, he actually asked for stirfry broccoli & chicken last week! :) We use yakisoba noodles in this as well... When my son was that age it helped him eat if he was eating off of my plate, as annoying as that is at times...he'd eat more if he was "stealing" my food. Yogurt parfaits! My son LOVES them! We'll get the big bulk yogurt and frozen fruit and add it together... My son was finicky about cheese for a while, but would steal my salad cheese (cubed) w/catalina dressing, now he'll ask for salad chesse and will pull out the catalina :) Kids go through MANY stages w/their food! For a good month or better my son has basically refused to eat anything other then parfaits @ one time, PBJs another time, Yakisoba bowls/noodles, etc... My neighbors daughter went through hotdogs & shredded cheese & sugar toast for months! Try a bunch of different things and offer him other foods whether he'll eat them or not... one of these times he might try it just cuz you keep putting it on his plate :)

Sorry, in answer to your question though, some popular foods for my toddler are risottos, fish mornays (all with lots of cheese!!) and lasagne. You can pack heaps of veges into all of these and he should eat it up!

Do you give him the spoon or are you still feeding him? I would suggest that if you're still feeding him, to try giving him the spoon, it worked wonders for a friend of mine who had the same problem. My daughter hasn't let me feed her since she was about 15 months old, it was very messy in the beginning but good once they learn the co-ordination.

Also, they know best how much food they need and if they're hungry, they'll eat. I wouldn't worry about them missing out on vitamins/nutrients at this age, it will all sort itself out.

Try the gerber graduates, they are great for little ones and healthy maybe if he sees that they are his size food he will eat it. Also give him pediasure for the nutrients that he is not reciving when he is being picky.

most kids become picky eaters a couple times. its mostly for attention. not saying ur not giving him attention. if you make him a part of the grocery shopping like once a week and write out an meal plan if possible. and then most important let him hlep cook.. he will start eating i know he is young but i think its a good time to start.
