How long did you breastfeed your child? Or, if still breastfeeding, what is your tentative weaning age?

I breastfeed my son until he was 28 months old. By then he was only nursing in the evenings before bed. I would have nursed longer, but he had to start visiting his father for week long visits on and off during the summer and I felt it would be better for both of us if he stopped.

My little girl is 22 months and very attached to nursing. I am thinking around age 2 I will try to start the process - I want it to be natural no stress transition - We will see how it goes!

my son wanted to wean himself by 10 months but i kept it going for another 2... he ate so much food at that point that he had little to no interest in what i was giving him anymore. It bothered him more to TRY to breastfeed than it did to skip a feeding altogether, and sometimes thats what he would do.. you could not make him do it. I planned to nurse him until he was 18 months.

12, 11, and 14 months for my 3 kids. I weaned them, but there were no issues. It's completely up to you. I read somewhere that the worldwide average is 4 years of age....but that's a bit too long for me :)

The longest I've breast fed was 19 months which was my little girl I only stopped because my health visitor suggested it as my little girl was very clingy and was also waking of a night for a comfort feed, she told me she was old enough to go onto full cream cows milk she also told me to join more toddler groups to help with her clingyness, she told me to refuse to give it to her even if she cried which I did and with in a week my little girl wasen't even bothered.

i breast fed my 2nd for just over 1yr, i started weaning him onto a bottle as of his first birthday he would not take a bottle at all before he was 1, i offered him the bottle before each feed untill he took it, then i swapped 1 feed a day for the bottle for a week and increased it from there, untill i found i wasnt filling hardly and just stopped from there all up took about a month

My son is 2.5 and still nursing but he is almost done. I started weaning very very gradually about when he turned two. He only nurses maybe every other day now, I expect he'll be weaned by March.

My son is 21 months old and I am still breastfeeding him. He's starting to wean himself though. It's all up to him really. Unless he goes another year. Then we're gonna have issues. That's my time with him and I love it. But he's getting old enough to not care anymore. I think it depends on the woman and child.

mine was weaned at 14 months. I broke down one night, went to her Dad crying telling him I was done, and that was that. He helped me with her a lot. Just basically he was the bad guy for me, turns out I had a clugged duct and was in some pain and that is what pushed it.

My daughter was stuck on me almost 24/7. She wouldn't take formula to save her life. Of course, my dumb luck, I couldn't get a breast pump to work - so that's the main reason I ended up a stay at home mom!!! My daughter finally weaned herself off at about 18 months. I had originally planned on 12 months at the most, but she didn't want anything else. I just had to start giving her a little whole milk here and there, until she realized she liked that better! Hope that helps!

I weaned my twins at 15 months. No current plan to wean my 21.5 month old son. If he doesn't self wean earlier I will probably wean him when he's 3...
