my son is 3 and is able to drink from a cup, but he still drinks from a sippy cup as it is guarenteed to not make a spill on our carpet, he is still too clumsy with a cup...

Why do you take it away? Offer both. He will have the opp. to make a choice .peer pressure will eventually help him make his own decision. They're only young once.Want to

We took the sippy cups away from our kids at two. At first we used the 'toss-n-take" cups that have straws, sometime they still use those. We let them use "regular" cups only if we were sitting at the table. I think two is a good age to take them off the sippy cup.

It's more of a "weening" the parents/caregivers of the sippy cup than the child... lots of accidents.... My daughter is two, almost 3 now. She is able to use a cup too, but we still use a sippy. We try to REMEMBER to give her a regular cup (small, plastic) when we sit down to eat a meal. That worked well with our other daughter. She was also around 2 or 3 when we started with her. That's a "comfortable" way (less accidents) to get them used to using a cup.

2 is great to start getting on a regular cup. The sippy cup is suppose to be used only as a transition cup. To many times the sippy becomes the new bottle. So that is great you are wanting to get him on the cup.
