it could be one of his signals to you that he is needing something, tired or hungry? or could be dry from a season change put lotion on it. but if it is bleeding use uncented so it does not sting.

My son scratched behind his ears when he was tired. then it turned into pulling his hair.

I had just fed him and gave him a bottle at the time and he was happly swinging away in his swing and i walked passed him and he had a fun covered in bleed where he was scratching his forehead.

I cut his nails everyday cos he keeps doing it and i try mittens and he gets out of them no problem.

When his tired he normal ly just rubs his eyes and put his blanket over his face

I agree with Cheryl, also try keeping his nails trimmed short... they have baby nail files if your afraid of knicking his cute little fingers with the clippers. If it's really getting bad ask his doctor for tips on getting your baby to stop scratching his head...

My baby was scratching his head too. I never knew what caused it, but I took him to the doctor and he prescribed hydrocortisone 2.5%. You can only get it by prescription but it really helped. He kept scratching his head and forehead til he bled, but I never seen anything to cause the itching. My doctor said he just had sensitive skin. My son in now turning 3 in July and still has sensitive skin. He actually breaks out now, but we still use the ointment. Good Luck!!
