Ever since my daughter was little every time I put her in her car seat, she will hold her breath till she falls asleep. When i try to make her stop she freaks out and gets so mad at me. The doctor said its tempermental?.... But it worries me and I don't know how to stop her from doing it. Also for the past couple of months, She gets so upset over little things and holds her breath till her lips go blue, then passes out for a second. She's done it twice now. it absolutly scares the S*** out of me. I dont know why she does it!!!! ?

I have one like this too. She has not passed out yet (still pretty little yet), but at our last visit to the doctor she was crying and the doc said she has never seen a little one her age hold her breath for so long. Maybe I have a good swimmer on hand ;). The doc did warn me that she might be one of those kids that holds their breath until they pass out. I think the biggest thing is to not freak out (hard thing to do I know). I am not sure what my reaction will be if and when that first time she does pass out. That is a scary thing no matter what. Logically I know that the brain will take over and make her breath, but the mother inside of me wants to freak out and tell her "breath". I do think it is much like anything else kids do for attention. If they don't get the reaction they are wanting they move onto something different to try to get it.

Yup she is trying to be in control of your attention and get her way. Don't make a big deal out of it basically ignore it she will grow out of it. if you blow in her face 1 quick hard blow it will usually make them take a breath. So that should help with the passing out. Good luck remember the more attention you give her for this behavior the more often she will do it. Even negative attention is attention so try to ignore it if she starts making her lips blue like I said try blowing in her face she should take a breath and it may distract her from holding her breath as well they often find it an interesting sensation.

My cousins daughter used to do that too. It's a retaliation sign. And an attention seeker. She will grow out of it.
