Wierdness behind his ear

Did u ever find out what it is exactly? Jus looked online today to find out what this could be .My daughter has same thing.Behind her ears it looks split and flaky and red like healing scab.Would like to know if u had to get a prescribed ointment or if u used something in stores to help it or prevent it? Both my kids have it. My doc told me Vasaline helps. Just a little after a bath. I had it as a child as well it was painfull for me. It would crack and bleed. Baby lotion helps as well.

Our son got that when he was about 6 months old. It smelt a bit unpleasant so i thought I just wasn't washing the area well enough. Washing properly though didn't clear it up and I took him to the doctor. Turned out it was atopic dermatitis (?). We just made sure we washed it with plain water and dried it properly then applied aqueous cream behind there every night. He has grown out of it now that he is three.

My son had something similar. I used California Baby diaper area wash behind his ears until it cleared up (about 3 days) and now make a point of washing behind his ears, rinsing and drying the area thoroughly. I haven't had the problem since.

my daughter had that and it spread over her whole scalp since we live in australia and it's very hot so she gets a sweaty head. it's made her really itchy and has stopped her sleeping, the poor thing. i've stopped using any shampoo on her at all and i just wash her hair with water now. if it has something in it that needs a bit more than water to clean, i just use conditioner instead and rub it into her scalp. it's been about a week and it's almost all gone even though the weather is still awfully hot. her hair is the shiniest its ever been and looks really clean. i guess little kids don't really get oily hair like adults so it's fine.

Thank you all so much for the advice. The only thing that I think is wierd about all of this is the scabbing. You know how we get scabs and the new skin underneath is pink? Well behind my sons ear its not like that, its just a huge scabby dry area. I will make sure I am rinsing all of the soap off and try some aveeno too. Anymore suggestions are welcome but I think also to be on the safe side I will take him to the doc. I would hate for it to be one of my skin conditions or any allergy and not have it taken care of! Thanks again

It could just be soap that wasn't washed off after the last bath. Make sure you rinse him really well. Until it heals I would put Neosporin on it.

My daughter had something similar. We would gently dry the area after her bath and apply vasoline to keep it moisturized.

it soundslike soap is leftover behind his ears rinse it off with water throughly.my daughter had it to . it might of been from the soap to my daughter has very sensitive skin shes has had it since she was three months old. i took her to the doctors come to find out it was egzemia. they told me to stop using the baby soapand use dove non sented. they also gave me a sab but did not work went to a skin doctor it is hte best person out there for skin problems . she has been clear for awhile now and if you do decide to use lotion use curel that baby stuff does not work. please get back to meif this works .

My youngest daughter always had that problem when she was that age and younger. It was associated with her eczema. I just gently flaked away what I could and then put Aveeno baby lotion or Aquaphor on it. She eventually out grew it.

my 18 month old has had skin issues since the first couple months after he was born... after trying many different things we needed up getting him tested for allergic reactions and he has a mild allergy to egg products. I would try some simple things first.. like changing what you wash the child with, try something like aveno baby and put lotion on it and if it doesnt clear up than I would take the child to the dr

My son has that too. I am thinking it might be a yeast infection. I haven't taken him to the dr. yet, but plan on it since it is not going away. Is it pussy or does it smell? You can try putting baby lotion on it and seeing if it helps.

My daughters get something like that sometimes if I don't get all the soap washed off behind their ears from their baths/showers. Try wiping the skin with clear water after washing his ears and see if that helps otherwise ask your doctor. Its possible he may have sensitive skin also.
