My husband and I do the cry out method. But we have had to do this since my son was 3 mths old and he's now 15 mths old and we're STILL doing it. He just won't let us rock him or anything to put him to sleep...it's like we're there to play. So there is a Ferber Method to crying it out. This is letting them cry for 5 min..go in, adjust them, tell them you love them (calm them down) and then leave (but reassure them that you are nearby..i love you..etc..increase the amount of time you go in by 5 min. So then it would be 10min, 15min, 20min. My son can go for 45!!
