I have tried straws, regular cups, soft nipples, hard nipples, different colors, shapes, handles, no handles, letting him pick, using juice, milk ,water, trying cold turkey for a day....he just refuses to use one! I even used a sippy cup for a day hoping he'd want to drink out of it cause mommy was. I tried putting something sweet around the nipple just for him to touch it with his mouth. I even used a re-enforcer to encourage him to use the sippy cup. nope. I don't know what else to do!?

So after I wrote about my daughter not drinking from a straw I decided to get one of her sippy cups with the straw and dip the straw in yogurt....guess who's drinking from a straw now. They'll do it when they want to. I also agree with Annaleigh, none of us had a sippy cup when we were little and I think we're all doing well. I'm just not brave enough to give my little demon something with no lid lol yikes!

Just offer a regular cup. Kids survived with them before the invention of the sippy cup.

I totally agree with Joy. I got rid of my daughter's bottles on her 1st birthday and never looked back. I gave her a sippy cup one day with watered down 100% white grape juice and she drank out of it when she was thirsty. Now, she drinks mostly water and she doesn't have any problems. She is almost 17 months and still won't drink from a straw but I refuse to stress. Every once in a while I try but no big deal, I've never met a teenager that couldn't drink from a straw so I am assuming they all get the hang of it sooner or later lol

go straight to a plastic cup, toss the bottle.. if its anything other than water say drinking is done in the kitchen or anywhere your happy with the spills

Agree with Rachel. Your trying too hard and making your job even harder. Sometimes we think that causing our children any type of discomfort will make us horrible parents. It doesnt. Discomfort is part of life and we learn from it. Taking away the bottle and letting your kid realize it's time to use a big cup is perfectly ok.

I was gonna say the same thing as Alison. Toss the bottles. When he's thirsty, he'll drink from whatever you offer. I do recommend the sippy cups with the silicone mouth pieces. Better on the teeth that way.

Tell her big girls drink from cups and not bottles.

Wow. Rachel, I think your little one might get a kick out of seeing you push yourself creatively. Stop trying new tricks! Just get rid of the bottle and he'll get thirsty eventually. No need for all of the drama.
