My son turned 2 almost 2 weeks ago and i have been worried about his talking for quite a while. He can say DADDY clear as a bell and uh huh, but a few other words here and there. Maybe 6-7 words tops, although he can do animal sounds. almost all animal sounds and understands everything i say to him.

anyways, he begins speech therapy next week, which is fine, but just curious anyone who has been through this, how long did it take, before you saw improvement. I mean i know every kid is different, but my son is stubborn. I read to him constantly, talk to him all the time, explaining alot, and he just replys with uh huh or daddy.

I know they are experts, and all , but just so curious how they will help. Its pretty frustrating on my part and his, i want him to talk and he wants me to understand. I hope it all works out fine fast!!

Thanks in advance

At my son's 15 month old check up, the doctor was worried about his speech. We called the local early intervention program in our area, and they tested him. They said he was behind, but not far enough behind to receive services at that time, but we could call back any time and they would test him again.

When he turned 2 he still wasn't saying many words, but we did not contact early intervention again. Before we knew it, he was saying new words. He is not almost 2.5, and he says probably 2 new words a day. They are fairly clear. I am sure you will have fine luck with therapy.
