Any ideas for locking your cabinets?

My son loves to get in every cabinet he can. I tried the locks from walmart but they dont work with mine. Ive tried using velcro and that helped awhile until he realized if he pulled really hard he could open them, tying them with ribbon (had nothing elso to use), and emptied 2 drawers for him. I thought maybe if I gave him his own space in my kitchen maybe he will stay out of the other stuff. He does not respond to no. My trash can has to stay tapped shut bc he also likes to open that and either get trash out or put things in there. Anyone have suggetions on getting him to leave the cabinets & drawers alone or another idea of locking him out somehow? Btw, the ribbon still allows the cabinets to open a little and he can reach in and grab things.

Thank you! He used to play with the pots & pans and I was okay with that until he climbed in the drawer and when my oven is on, it gets very hot. I hope this passes soon but it was cute when he would play with the pots and pans. He also LOVES the dishwasher. This morning I finally let him "help" and he carried a spatula around all day long. It was very cute!

cute! I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I've opted to just deal with the mess that's caused by my daughter getting into the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. I moved things that she shouldn't get into to places that are outside of her reach and kept pots and pans, towels/cloth napkins, plastic to-go containers, etc in the cabinets and drawers at her level. They're always a mess, of course, but it's great for her imagination and development to play with all the things mommy is "playing" with, and I love having her in the kitchen with me while I buzz around: I can keep an eye on her while I cook/clean and she's right there for me to play with when I have a free moment... Anyways, I know that's not what you're looking for, but hope it helps... each stage passes so fast, our kids grow up too quickly, this is my way of celebrating the stage my daughter's at right now.
