Have a 4 year old girl that still prefers to go in her diapers. Have her bottom less out door when the weather is nice and she just goes when ever.
She will be so embarrassed when she gets older that she as in diapers for so long. Neither my husband or me feels a need to get her out of them. She will get there eventually.
Her sister was diaper free at 2 1/2, not even needing diapers at night.

I have a 3 1/2 year old girl, who will go to the toilet when prompted but will not let me know when she needs to go, ignoring her accidents and continuing doing what shes doing. Her day care has advised that she should be trained by now and ive been told i have to have her see a doctor before they will continue to have her at the centre. Its a little disheartening, we do try different things such as rewards and extra prompting it just doesnt seem to be happening

My twin boys are 3 and it's bit hit & miss to get them consistently to go on potty or toilet. Have decided to be lead by them - if they ask to go I take them. Slowly but surely as they say!

My middle son was four before he would go on the toilet. It wasn't a matter of know how, but a matter of wanting to. Be patient, and your child will do it when he's ready. Also, although I really didn't want him to wait as long as he did, the added benefit was that he decided to be totally free of pull-ups at night, too. No night training!

My son is 3 1/2 will be 4 in October and absolutely REFUSES to use or even try the big boy potty. We've been trying for 2 years to potty train him. He's more than ready physically speaking he knows when he needs to go to the bathroom but he's terrified of sitting on the potty big or little. I know he'll eventually decide one day to do it but in the meantime its frustrating. Good Luck

I'm glad i'm not the only one having issues with potty training. I've been told well in my family they start around the age of two. So happy me I went out and bought my son a Cars potty and thought for sure he would love using it, I also informed his teacher at daycare that he was now potty training. Hmmpphh he sure fooled me he went potty at daycare but at home he has a fit when I sit him on the pot. So I guess like the other moms said they will start when they are ready.

For the life of me I will never understand why there is such pressure to have a kid potty trained by three. I understand that is the general age, and that it's okay to train when they are three, but only if they are ready and willing at three. I have never seen a grown man go into the bathroom at work and not know how to use a toilet, or wear a pull up. It will come. Don't stress. I have six kids. One trained a almost four, another trained at 21 months. It's FINE. One thing I know for certain: if you push it, then it will become a power struggle and you will LOSE. Be patient, make it fun, and eventually they will get it. I PROMISE. Love to those of you who are trying, because that is exactly what it is. Trying. they are trying, you are trying, and it is a freakin' trying experience! Good luck!

My son is 3 and a half and still not potty trained. I like the timer in the kitchen idea. I have also heard of a book called "toilet training in less than a day" Maybe that can help us moms who need to potty train our kids.

my daughter at 1 1/2 was potty trained - still wears a pullup at night to prevent accidents - but I did a 4 day potty training boot camp - naked all day and used a timer. It worked.

He had been in Pull-ups for a few months before I tried the timer, we no longer had diapers. After those Pull-ups ran out, I bought a package of cheapy night-time ones for bed just-in-case, and underwear during the day. After those were gone (and I'm pretty sure I threw away all of them dry within 6 months because of how torn up they get) he was in underwear day and night.

my son is 3 an a half, he just recently got consistent with the potty. it'll happen when he's ready n not a moment sooner.my son would scream n cry when i tried to take him to the potty, so i just stopped using diapers n left him in his clothes, after a while he got sick of being wet n started goin on his own, this is a messy strategy n stressful but it did the trick. just keep a mop handy lol.

I'm gonna have to try the kitchen timer thing Sarah. You're not the first mom I've heard do that. I just keep trying to remember every half hour or ask him to tell me when he goes (he doesn't). Did you let your little one run naked the whole time? Did you use Pull Ups? I'm so trying to skip the pull ups lol

My son was 3 and a half. We got the kitchen timer out and set it for every half hour, when it goes off, it's potty time, sit on the potty for 10 min, reset timer, after they go on it the first time start setting it for every hour. He was fully trained, pee and poop, night and day in 4 days.

My son's 3 (he'll be 4 in October) and still flat out refuses to go on the toilet. He'll sit on it, read on it, sing and say his ABC's on it but he won't GO. Like Theresa said, patience....it'll happen. My niece was trained by the time she was 2 but my nephews....one was 4 and the other was 4 and a half so I think with boys in general, they take longer to learn. Hell, my 34 year old husband still needs a little work in that department lol With the aim, that is lol

My 2nd child was not potty trained until closer to 4. His doc told me that was not unusual and not to be concerned. It WILL happen someday, just be patient. :)
