Are you teaching your toddler literacy skills?

Is anyone else teaching her 3-year old to read? My daughter has learned her alphabet and the sounds the letters make. She recognizes almost all the letters by sight. She memorizes every book I read to her. She tells me she wants to learn to read.

What strategies are you using?

We are not necessarily teaching our 3.5 year old to read however we do spend a lot of time reading books, learning letters by sight and sound, doing arts and crafts and even doing cooking projects that that involve the alphabet. We also listen to music and sing a lot as well. When we read I drag my finger along each sentence and sometimes point out smaller words. Our son is eager to learn so we spend a lot of time feeding his interest. We don't force anything and just go with the flow and enjoy the one on one time we spend together learning :)
