I put my little boy in his when he was about 17 months old. I would wait until he is trying to crawl out of his baby bed.

I personally think about 2. We moved our daughter then and never had any problems, but honestly each kid is different and you are probably the best judge!! Good luck!!!

I moved my son into his bed with a safety rail at 15 months. He has always been a restless sleeper. Once I moved him to a real bed he slept the best he had since he was born.

Thank you for all of your comments. We are planning to wait until he is 18 months, I think he will like his new bed a lot!

My little girl was just turned 2 when I moved her from her cot to a toddler bed. She was still completely happy in her cot but I was reluctant to leave it any longer as its a general rule of thumb that the longer you leave it the harder it becomes! We had a couple of nights that were a bit of a nightmare but we persevered and now she loves it. She is almost 3 now and is in a single bed with a bed rail and she sleeps so well, and she is so pleased with her new Disney Princess duvet set we have just bought her!!

my son and daughter were both 18 months. they loved the fact they cound get out on their own in the morning. I put a stair gate in the bedroom door so they wouldn't try getting down the stairs.

My son was climbing out of cots before the age of two. & it drove me nuts though I never thought of putting him into a bed.

At about 23 months I converted his cot into a toddler bed. I felt it was the right time.

he is onw 26months & has been in a single bed for a week now. He was simply to tall for a toddler bed. He thinks it is gr8. Once again, the timing (& the circumstances) is what dictated it.

I believe, you will know when your son is ready to move out of a crib.

My son is 2 yrs and 3 mos and he's still in his crib, I'm going to change it tomorrow though...he's climbed out of it for the first time just the other night and I don't want him to get hurt trying to climb out again.

You'd be surprised at how fast they figure that out on their own. My daughter never had a problem and she was 12 months when she got her new bed. I wouldn't put them in a twin bed and let them figure it out, but a toddler bed is low enough that they figure it out really fast.

Shouldn't we wait until she can at least get in and out of the bed safely? Do you simply put them in the new bed and cross your fingers?

My 3 out at 18 months and put them ina bed with a rail. We had NO problems with any of them fighting us because we moved them so young.

Wait as long as you can. My first stayed in his crib until he was about 3 years old and my second is still in his crib and he's 2 1/2 now. Once they get out, it's hard to keep them in their bed.

My daughter moved to her Toddler bed when she turned one, but we didn't move my son until he was about 18 months. It just depends on how comfortable you are with them moving around on their own.

Before the age of 2. Most pediatricians agree that is a good and safe age to introduce a bed to your child.

My daughter was 18 months when she went into her toddler bed. She loved it from day one!
