Baby Girl Hairstyles?

My daughter is 12 months old. She has an abundance of hair, especially in the front! Her "bangs" are so long that they actually reach her upper lip. She will not keep a clip in for even a few minutes, and a headband makes her look like a troll. I am extremely opposed to cutting her hair at all.

She has an appointment next week to have her pictures taken, and Im at a loss as to what to do with her hair. I have to find a way to keep it out of her face because you cant see her face at all. Any suggestions on baby girl hairstyles? She is very good about letting me comb and style her hair. She just goes right to work destroying the results as soon as I let her down. :)

Much the same problem with my 15 year old son, he has quite long hair and I have done it to a teenage girls style the reason for it is I intend to dress him as a girl for the summer so that my daughter and him look the same, it saves me buying boy clothes as they can share the same clothes. He is rather efeminite and does look pretty in a dress or skirt, they won't wear the same underwear as I have bought him his own knickers, he will have his own complete wardrobe includeing dresses, skirts, blouses etc and I think his behaveiure will improve if he spends all his time as a girl and I know that his sister would like a sister to play with, I have had his hair permed so that it is not easy to comb out and his dresses have lots of little buttons on the back so he will find it almost impossable to take off without my help but I am sure he will get used to being a girl as he will be one for the foreseeable future, I will tie two pretty bows in his hair so that there can be no mistake that he is now a girl.

What about the elastic head bands? there are some cute ones with flowers etc that would help with cute baby girl hairstyles. Im not sure, my little man still hardly has any hair!! He will be at school before we need to get him a hair cut!!

My daughter is the same way with clips. She will however let me braid her hair. I think the clips hurt her head. So a braid with just a tie at the end doesn't tug at her scalp.

Lora, you really need to get her bangs off her face, it could be impacting her vision (double-check with an optometrist if you like). Either chop her bangs or tie them back.

well you could put it in two pony tails at the back, maybe plait it down the back, or try a fish tail plait. They look good. I put my niece's hair into two pony tails and it looked soo sweet, my niece is two years old, yeah okay, it stayed in for about three hours but thats it, it still ooks cute though.

I had the same problem with my daughter and heard about something called a "pixie cut". You only cut the front heavy part of the bangs. It's a natural looking cut. This is how you do it... Take a small bunch of hair that is a part of her bangs, like ten strands or less, cut it at the length you want but at an angle (about a 30 degree angle). Then angle the direction you cut with every other time from right to left, so that when the hair falls it looks natural and the rest of the long hair can stay long and looking natural. It was a good comprimise between myself and my daughter, this way she looked very cute but didn't need stuff in her hair to keep it out of her face. I always just cut it myself it's super easy to do.
