My daughter is 1 1/2 and sometimes when I pick her up her back cracks. It has been happening most of her life. The doctor keeps telling me its nothing but I have never felt a babies back crack so much. Any advice?

are you sure its her back? my finace and i are both anemic and have low calcium deficiencies. when i squat down my knees crack very loudly. clint's elbows crack when he bends or extends them. i have heard cracking from my daughter. with her knees...or her arm sockets when we pick her up. it may just be that your daughter is going to have bad joints. i would go to a dr that will do a calcium test on her. try giving her vitamins that are high in calcium and alot of milk. also i would never recommend letting her drink pop as she gets older...or ANYTHING carbonated until she i done growing or a teenageer. as it turns out carbonated beverages can cause problems with just about anyone's joints...but it affects ppl with low calcium. arthritis and joint problems twice as bad. hope that helps a lil bit!

I think it's pretty normal, but really what is normal in kids. My son has been going to the chiropractor since he was 6 weeks old. It's very good for them, maybe you should take her to see one they will know best. good luck

Thank you for your help ladies! I am sure it's her back. I can feel it with my hands when I pick her up. It's so loud it makes me stop dead in my tracks b/c I think she's hurt! But she just chatters on like nothing is wrong.

She's only ever had 1 sip of root beer. (She kept grabbing at it so I let her taste it and now she won't touch it.) I only give her whole milk and baby fruit juices.

I always wondered why my son's back cracked too...I don't think it's anything bad, I took my son in to the chripractor and the guy said it's really nothing...

Like Danielle my daughters arm sockets used to crack when we picked her up as a baby not as a toddler. Mothers intuition is a powerful thing if you feel there is something wrong don't give up, try other doctors, go see a paediatrician.
