Can Rice cereal cause constipation?

My 5 month old is badly constipated and in alot of pain. I started her on solid at 5 months only. I give her Rice cereal with formula and purity (Butternut and Pear flavours). Could the rice cereal be causing her to become constipated?

Yes it does cause constipation in many babies. Switching to oatmeal will make a difference. Also I always put in puréed fruit for flavor and to help my little girl go. I usually used apples, pears, or plums. Or a combination.
