I sleep when he does and clean while he is eating or playing....I get so lazy home all day my naps are my savior!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At 16mths I can say it is hard while they are up that is the phase when they can be needy and to curious and in the way. So when my son was that young I slept for an 1hr and cleaned for the rest of the nap. Dont put pressure on yourself to be perfect take the "me" time when you can!!! Also if you work take the quality time with your son!

Actually, I have educational shows that I have my son watch that or I set him in the kitchen with a plastic spoon and a metal pot and let him beat away on it. I have also had him help with putting wet clothes into the dryer. He loves to help. Have him help you but make it a game. Working 2 jobs and still having a house to clean takes a lot of your time away from the baby. So if you include him, not only are you getting things done, but you are spending quality time with your son.

I strongly encourage not defaulting to using the tv or movies as an entertainer while you try to get things done. Toddlers should really not have any tv/screen time. It makes thier attention worse later. I have 5 under the age of 11, including a 2 year old and all are home all day as i am a homeschooler. If you are tired, then sleep when he does. your health is more important than a spotless house and he will only remember a happy versus a grouchy owrn out mom versus if the dishes were done on a certain day. My 2 year old loves to help so on days i need to get things done, she is pretty easily occupied with toys in a playpen, or given a rag wet with water that she can "help clean" with while i go about the household chores. toddlers really love feeling they are "helping" in this manner. Remember, childhood happens once. Try to not see him as in the way (trust me, my 2 year old is BUSY, I feel your pain!) but as in a phase that once gone WILL NEVER COME AGAIN (tear...sniffle...)...best of luck! ~~Katie from brighton park http://www.brightonparkblog.blogspot.com

How long does he nap for? If its like an hour I would at least take a 30 min power nap sometimes.

if he cant climb out of the playpen put him in there with a bunch of toys to keep him occupied, i do this with my 8 month old and 22 month old, luckily my 22 month old hasnt figured out how to climb out, she has the idea but hasnt actually climbed out.....yet lol

What i did was nap when he naps if im really tired. Once he wakes up you can put him in his highchair and give him snacks or have him color and watch his favorite movie or cartoon.
